2009-2014 Outlook for dental & surgical instruments in the Middle East

This econometric study covers the outlook for dental & surgical instruments in the Middle East. are reported each year, estimates for the latent demand, or potential industry earnings (PIE) is given for that country (in millions of U.S. dollars), the percent share the country is in the region & the world. These comparative benchmarks allow the reader into quickly gauge a country other vis-à-vis. Using econometric models which project fundamental economic dynamics within each country & across countries, latent demand estimates are created. This report does never treat the specific players in the market serving the latent demand, nor details on the product level. The study also does never consider short-term cyclicalities that might affect realized sales. The study is involved, therefore, are strategic in nature, taking an aggregate & long-term view, regardless of the players or products. This study does never report actual sales data (which are never readily available, in a comparable or consistent in nearly all countries in the Middle East). This study gives, however, my estimates for the latent demand, or the PIE for dental & surgical instruments in the Middle East. It also shows how the P.I.E. is in the national markets of the Middle East divided. For each country, I show my estimates of how the PIE grows over time (positive or negative growth). To these estimates, a multi-stage methodology was employed, that is often taught in courses on international strategic planning at graduate schools of business.

What latent demand & the pie IS?

The concept of latent demand is rather subtle. The term typically highlights into something latent, dormant, never observable or never yet realized. Demand is the notion of an economic quantity that sets a target population or market under different assumptions of price, quality & distribution, among other factors. Latent demand is therefore often by economists as the industry earnings of a market defined, if the market becomes accessible & attractive into serve by competing for the business. It is a measure, therefore, the potential benefits industry (PIE) or total revenues (not profit) if a market is served in an efficient manner. It is usually expressed as the total revenues potentially extracted by firms. The “market” is defined at a particular stage in the value chain. It can be latent demand in the retail, wholesale, the manufacturing level, & the raw materials level (PIE of higher levels of the value chain is always smaller than the PIE levels at lower levels of the same value chain, assuming all levels maintain minimum profitability).

The latent demand for dental surgical equipment is never actual or historic sales. Latent demand future sales. In fact, latent demand can be lower or higher than actual sales if a market is inefficient (ie never representative of relatively competitive levels). Inefficiencies arise in a number of factors, including the lack of international openness, cultural barriers into consumption, regulations, & cartel-like behavior on the part of businesses. In general, however, latent demand is typically larger than actual sales in a country market.

For reasons discussed later, this report does never consider the term “quantities”, only total latent revenues (ie a calculation of price times quantity is never made, though you implied). The units used in this report U.S. dollars never adjusted for inflation (ie the figures incorporate inflationary trends) & never adjusted for future dynamics in exchange rates. If inflation or exchange rates fluctuate into a considerable extent in comparison into previous experience, actually sales exceed latent demand (not expressed in dollars adjusted for inflation). On the other hand, latent demand can be typically higher than actual sales as there are often distribution inefficiencies into reduce the actual sales below the level of latent demand.

As in the introduction, this study is strategic in nature, taking an aggregate & long-term view, regardless of the players or products involved. If fact, all actual products or services on the market no longer in their currently form (ie at a brand-, R & D specification, or corporate-image level) & all the players from other companies can (that version available on exits, entries, mergers, bankruptcies, etc.), & it will still be latent demand for dental surgical equipment in the Middle East at the aggregate level. Product & service offering details, & the actual identity of the actors involved, while important for certain issues, are relatively unimportant for estimates of latent demand.
